It is extremely hot in the plains of North India as well as in the mountains. Tourists and local people going to the mountains are now going to get relief from the heat. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain in various districts of Uttarakhand for the next two days (May 28-29).

The Meteorological Department said that hailstorm is expected with strong winds. There are chances of getting relief from the scorching heat. However, in view of the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the concerned districts have been instructed to remain alert and ensure precautionary arrangements.

There will be heavy rain in these districts

Dehradun Meteorological Center has issued orange alert of rain for Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Thursday. At some places, there is a possibility of thunderstorm along with lightning, hailstorm and wind speed ranging from 40-50 km per hour to 60 km per hour.

Winds will blow at a speed of 60 km per hour

Apart from this, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning at some places in the remaining districts of the state and winds blowing at the speed of 40-50 km per hour. Orange alert has been issued for Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Friday and there is a possibility of thunder and lightning at some places, hailstorm and strong winds with speed ranging from 40-50 km per hour to 60 km per hour.

There will be rain in Tehri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts also

During this period, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts. After this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next two days i.e. 30 and 31 May. However, in view of the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the State Emergency Operation Center has instructed the concerned districts to remain alert and ensure necessary precautionary arrangements.

Special appeal made to people for protection

State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman has appealed to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, stay at safe places and stay away from trees, electric poles and weak structures during lightning and strong winds. He has also appealed to the people to follow the latest weather related information and guidelines issued by the administration.
