This accident happened in Narayanpur area of ​​Keonjhar Town police station area, where a big tent set up during a community feast suddenly collapsed. After the accident, there was shouting and chaos in the area.

Tent collapsed due to storm

According to the information, a community program and banquet was organized in Narayanpur area. A large number of local people and villagers had come to participate in the program. Everything was going normally, then suddenly the weather took a turn. Dense dark clouds covered the sky and within no time a strong dust storm started. Shortly after this it started raining heavily. The speed of the storm’s winds was so high that the huge tent erected at the venue fell down with a loud noise.

Three died due to tent being buried under

After the tent collapsed, many people present there got buried under it. The sudden accident caused a stampede at the spot. People started running here and there to save their lives, while many people remained trapped under the debris. The local people started relief and rescue operations without wasting any time. The villagers together removed the tents and iron structures and tried to pull out the buried people. But in this tragic accident, three people died on the spot. Another person was seriously injured. The injured was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where he is undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors.

The storm caused devastation in the entire district

The impact of the storm was not limited to Narayanpur only. Strong cyclonic winds and rain caused heavy damage throughout Keonjhar district. In many areas of the district, big trees were uprooted and fell on the roads. Electric poles were broken at many places and high-tension wires were damaged, due to which power supply remained disrupted for a long time. On one hand, people were troubled by the scorching heat, while on the other hand, due to power cut, they were forced to remain in darkness for hours. The traffic system was also affected due to falling of trees on the roads and traffic came to a halt on many roads.

CM Majhi expressed grief

As soon as information about the incident was received, the police and district administration team immediately reached the spot. Officials took stock of the affected area and relief and rescue operations were intensified. The administration has also ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident of tent collapse. It has also been said that all possible assistance will be provided to the affected families. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, it was said that the Chief Minister has expressed deep sorrow over the death of three people due to Kalbaisakhi generated tornado in Narayanpur area of ​​Keonjhar district.
