New Delhi: The petition of Trinamool Congress has been heard in the Supreme Court. Kapil Sibal presented TMC’s side in the court but TMC could not get relief and TMC’s petition was rejected. Kapil Sibal said, “Election Commission cannot take unilateral decisions.” “We fear that the ACEO order will lead to irregularities in counting,” he said.
What did TMC say?
TMC said why state employees are not being appointed as counting supervisors? Article 324 of the Constitution is being flouted. The Election Commission is acting arbitrarily. The Election Commission is raising questions on the intentions of the state employees.
What did the Supreme Court say?
The Supreme Court said that you cannot make such allegations. Be it state or central employees, all are working under the Election Commission. The Supreme Court said that it is not that there will be only counting supervisors. Apart from this, there will be representatives of the candidates. There will be other officers. There is no basis for any kind of apprehension.
Shock to TMC from Supreme Court
TMC has received a big blow from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has refused to interfere in the decision of the Additional CEO.
What did the Election Commission say?
The Election Commission said that one employee will also be from the state government. The Supreme Court took the Commission’s reply on record. The Supreme Court did not interfere in the Commission’s circular.
