Keonjhar: Recently a surprising case came to light from Keonjhar district of Odisha. Here a person had reached the bank to withdraw the money deposited in the bank account of his deceased sister. When the bank employees asked him for the death certificate, he carried the skeleton of his dead sister on his shoulders and reached the bank and started asking for the deposited money. After this incident came to light, there was a stir in the area and its video started going viral on social media.
When this matter gained momentum, now the money deposited in his sister’s account has been returned to the man and additional assistance has also been provided.
What is the whole matter?
The matter is of Keonjhar district of Odisha. Jeetu Munda of Dianali village in Patna area here, wanted to withdraw the money deposited in his sister’s bank account after her death. In such a situation, he went to the bank and wanted to withdraw money from his sister’s account. But the bank officials told him that as per the rules, he would have to provide the death certificate and other necessary documents.
But Jeetu went to his village and took out his sister’s buried body, which had been reduced to a skeleton. After this, he carried the skeleton on his shoulder and reached the bank on foot. Here he placed the skeleton in front of the bank and demanded to give about 19 thousand rupees deposited in the account of the deceased sister.
This matter came into limelight and the video of Jeetu taking the skeleton to the bank went viral on social media.
The bank returned the money and the bank employees gave clarification
When the issue escalated, the bank’s regional manager, Satyavrat Nanda, said in the bank’s clarification, “Jitu Munda was drunk and was unable to understand that he had to produce valid documents of being the legal heir to withdraw money from his sister’s account. After arguing with the bank staff, he left the bank and when he returned, he was a skeleton. We have started an investigation in collaboration with the local administration.”
The current situation is that about Rs 19 thousand deposited in his sister’s account has been returned to Jitu Munda, along with this, additional assistance of Rs 20 thousand has been provided to him by the Red Cross. (Report- Shubham Kumar)
