Udham Singh Nagar: In Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, the district administration has taken major action by intensifying the campaign to remove encroachment on government land. Many illegal religious structures were demolished simultaneously in the early morning in Gularbhoj-Dineshpur area.
Construction of buildings by illegal occupation
According to the administration, all these structures were built by illegally occupying the land of the Irrigation Department. After a survey conducted about three months ago, notices were issued to the concerned people asking them to submit documents related to land ownership and construction, but the occupants could not present valid documents.
Occupants did not get relief even from High Court
It was told that notices were issued regarding illegal encroachments in Thanda Nala area also. Some occupants approached the High Court, where they did not get relief. After this they brought a stay order from the Supreme Court, but since there was no ban in the case of religious structures, the administration took action.
A joint team of the district administration and the irrigation department carried out an early morning operation in the presence of heavy police force and took possession of the land by demolishing three illegal religious structures.
Removing encroachment is the priority of the state government – DM
District Magistrate Nitin Bhadauria said that removing encroachment on government land is the priority of the state government and such action will continue in future also. Additional District Magistrate Pankaj Upadhyay clarified that neither any administrative permission was taken for the construction of these structures nor valid documents of ownership were provided. The administration said that this action has been taken in compliance with the guidelines of the Supreme Court and the campaign against encroachment in the district will continue.
