Giving information about the conversation he had with Macron on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘I received a call from my dear friend President Emmanuel Macron. We discussed the situation in West Asia and agreed on the need to immediately restore security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. We will continue our close cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.'” He also said that India and France will continue to work together for regional stability.
Meeting with Austrian Chancellor Stocker
In this series, a meeting was also held between Prime Minister Modi and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker in New Delhi today. During this, both the leaders stressed the need to maintain safe and unobstructed sea routes in West Asia. “The two sides discussed the recent worrying developments in the West Asia region and underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for peaceful resolution of issues, including the safe and unimpeded movement of maritime vessels,” Sibi George, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, told a press briefing.
France and Britain are going to hold a joint conference
Meanwhile, France and Britain are going to organize a joint conference, in which more than 40 countries will be included. The objective of this initiative is to ensure freedom of movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz. President Macron has confirmed that this video conference will be held in Paris on Friday this week. In this, many countries will work together under a ‘Multilateral and Defensive Mission’, the aim of which is to restore safe movement in this important energy route of the world.
