Railway track caved in near New Harangajao station in Assam – many trains cancelled, timings of many trains changed

Assam Train operations on the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section have been significantly affected due to subsidence of railway tracks (Line-1 and Line-2) near New Harangajao station due to flooding caused by heavy rains in 2017. North-East Frontier Railway said that at present all trains on this route are being operated through Line-3 with strict monitoring and better security measures.

Train operations stopped from 7 pm to 5 am

According to North-East Frontier Railway, keeping in mind the safety of passengers amid floods in Assam, the operation of passenger trains from the affected section has been stopped from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. During day time, trains are being controlled and allowed to pass through this section with constant monitoring. Therefore, some trains have been cancelled. Along with this, timings of many trains have been changed and their operations have been controlled.

Work going on war footing to repair the damaged track section

Railways said that railway staff, engineering teams and heavy machinery have been deployed on war footing to quickly repair the track section damaged due to heavy rains and normal operations of trains are expected to resume once the work is safely completed.

List of canceled trains

• Train No. 15617, Guwahati-Dullabhchhada Express running on 25th July will remain cancelled.
• Train number 15618, Dullabhchhada-Guwahati Express running on 26th July will remain cancelled.
• Train No. 15615, Guwahati-Silchar Express running on 25th and 26th July will remain cancelled.
• Train No. 15616, Silchar-Guwahati Express running on 26th and 27th July will remain cancelled.

Changes made in timings of many trains

• The timing of train number 15650, Narangi-Agartala Express running on 25th and 26th July has now been changed to 22:30.
• The timing of train number 15649, Agartala-Narangi Express running on 25th and 26th July has now been changed to 23:00.
• The timing of Train No. 15609, Guwahati-Sairang Express running on 25th and 26th July has now been changed to 23:30 hrs.
• The timing of Train No. 15610, Sairang-Guwahati Express running on 25th and 26th July has now been changed to 21:30 hrs.
• The timing of Train No. 15626, Agartala-Deoghar Express running on 25th July has now been changed to 23:30.
• The timing of Train No. 15611, Rangiya-Silchar Express running on 25th and 26th July has now been changed to 23:30 hrs.
• Timings of Train No. 15612, Silchar-Rangiya Express running on 25th and 26th July have been changed to 05:00 am on 26th July and 27th July respectively.
• The timing of train number 01666, Agartala-Rani Kamalapati special train running on 26th July has now been changed to 23:30.
