Maharashtra There was chaos in Latur district to buy petrol and diesel. Due to alleged shortage of petrol and diesel, long queues of vehicles were seen at many petrol pumps on Monday. According to officials and traders, this situation has arisen due to wholesale suppliers stopping the supply of petrol and diesel to local pump operators, which has created a situation like shortage of petrol and diesel in the district. ‘Diesel is not available’ and ‘Petrol is not available’ boards were also put up at many petrol pumps, while some pumps were selling petrol and diesel only in limited quantities.
Tanker drivers are not being given entry into the supplier premises
Petrol pump operators said that the bulk fuel depot is located in Solapur, where tankers from Latur district are standing in long lines to collect petrol and diesel. However, they allege that tanker drivers are not being allowed entry into the supplier’s premises, due to which there is a delay in bringing petrol and diesel. Many petrol pumps remained completely closed due to depletion of stocks. This situation led to panic buying. Pump operators said that efforts are being made to restore the supply and efforts are being made to bring the situation back to normal soon.
Some pumps deliberately stopped selling despite having sufficient stock.
Meanwhile, on complaints of some pumps deliberately stopping sales despite having adequate stock, Acting District Collector Rahul Kumar Meena has issued guidelines for all pump operators. The official said that according to the new instructions, pump operators will not stop the sale under any circumstances if there is available stock and will not refuse to provide petrol and diesel to the customers. Imposing unnecessary restrictions will have to be avoided and pumps will have to be kept open during the stipulated time.
