Before the opening of Noida International Airport, preparations are being made to provide major relief to the people of Delhi-NCR. In view of the increasing traffic pressure, Noida Authority has prepared a plan for a new 10-lane highway corridor to ease access from Delhi to Jewar Airport. The objective of this project is to reduce traffic on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and to provide faster and easier travel to the passengers.

Under this scheme, the embankment road built on the banks of Yamuna river will be widened and a 10-lane modern bypass will be made. This road will start from Sector-94 of Noida and will reach Gharbara village of Greater Noida and will connect with Yamuna Expressway there. At present this road is of 4 lanes, which will first be expanded to 6 lanes and later to 10 lanes. With this, it will become much easier and faster to reach Jewar Airport directly from Delhi.

Direct connection will be available from Chilla elevated road

This project will also be connected to Chilla Elevated Road. This 5.9 kilometer long road is being built from Mayur Vihar to Mahamaya Flyover and is expected to be completed by December next year. Apart from this, a 1.4 km long elevated link road will also be built from Mahamaya Flyover to Okhla Bird Century Metro Station. With this, vehicles coming from Delhi will be able to reach the new bypass directly without entering the expressway.

Traffic will increase after opening of airport

Noida Authority officials say that after the opening of the airport, traffic in this area will increase rapidly. Keeping this in mind, this new road network is being prepared. According to officials, after the feasibility report of the project is ready, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared. Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority will jointly bear the expense of this entire project.

Airport can start from June 15

Noida International Airport is likely to start commercial operations from June 15. Initially Indigo Airlines will start flights from here to cities like Lucknow, Bengaluru, Amritsar, Hyderabad and Jammu.
