In the Asian Relay Championship 2026 held in Shang Yu, China, Indian women runners witnessed a historic performance in the 4×100 meter relay team event, on the basis of which they managed to win the gold medal. In this event, SS Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar, Tamanna and experienced Shravani Nanda participated from India’s side, who together won the gold medal by completing the race in just 43.85 seconds. In this relay race, Indian women runners faced tough competition from the host Chinese team but they managed to defeat them in which the Chinese team stood second with a time of 44.09 seconds and had to be content with the silver medal. Apart from this, Thailand’s women’s team was at third place, which completed this relay race in 44.11 seconds.
Accurate baton exchange and excellent finishing speed showed wonders.
Amazing coordination was seen between the Indian women runners in the 4×100 meter relay event, which put Team India ahead of the other teams in this race. There was a very good coordination between SS Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar, Tamanna and Shravani Nanda during the baton exchange, in which very good speed was also seen in the last 100 meter race, due to which the Indian women runners looked completely different from the other teams in this race. This 2026 edition of the Asian Relay Championship was very important for the Indian athletes as after this they are going to have a very busy schedule which includes Commonwealth Games and Asian Games among the big events in which all eyes are going to be on their performance.
India won a total of three medals in the Asian Championship
A total of three medals came to India’s account in the Asian Relay Championship 2026, in which one gold medal was won in the women’s 4×100 meter event, while India won a silver medal in the mixed 4×100 meter relay event in which Thirtesh P Shetty, MR Poovamma, Bharat Sridhar and Neeru Pathak were included. Apart from this, India won a bronze medal in the 4×100 meter mixed event in which Animesh Kujur, Pranav Gurav, Tamanna and Sneha Shanuvalli were included in this event. Now the Asian Relay Championship 2027 will be organized in Chandigarh in India next year.
