
‘Lucknow Metro’ in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has started the QR based ticket system on Monday, which has made it easier for the passengers to travel by metro. This new facility was formally inaugurated by Sushil Kumar, Managing Director, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) at Hazratganj Metro Station. Thousands of passengers have benefited from the introduction of this service. Their journey has become easier.
how to book tickets
- Passengers will now get the facility to easily book QR tickets through the official mobile app of Lucknow Metro – Lucknow Metro Official (available on Play Store and iOS Store), Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) and ticket counters.
- Booking through Mobile App: Tickets will be available in the form of digital QR code directly on the mobile phone.
- Booking from counter and TVM: Paper based QR ticket can be obtained.
Benefits of QR ticket
Passengers with QR tickets can enter and exit stations by scanning the QR code at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate with yellow stripes. UPMRC has installed new QR-code supported TVMs at all metro stations. At least one QR-code TVM and one QR-code enabled ticket counter are available at every station. UPI payment facility is also available in these machines. The old TVMs and counters will continue to provide token based services as before.
What did UPMRC say?
UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar said that the QR based ticketing system is an important milestone for Lucknow Metro. It is based on the concept of ‘Smart Travel’, allowing passengers to book tickets from anywhere and enjoy a fast, simple and convenient travel experience. The initiative is also in line with the vision of Digital India, where services are just ‘a tap away’.
He further said that in the next phase towards ‘One Nation, One Card’, National Shared Mobility Card facility will be launched in Lucknow. This will facilitate passengers to travel seamlessly in all metro systems across the country where NCMC facility is available.
