Due to Christmas, banking services in three north-eastern states of the country are going to be disrupted for about a week. Due to continuous holidays, common customers as well as businessmen may have to face problems. In such a situation, it becomes necessary to prepare well in time.
Banks will remain closed for 5 consecutive days from today in Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya. Bank branches will remain shuttered in these states from December 24 to December 28. This series of holidays is formed due to Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Christmas Celebration, Second Saturday and Sunday.

However, it is a matter of relief that digital banking services will continue to operate. Net banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will remain available normally even during holidays. That means you can do online transactions, bill payment, fund transfer and withdraw cash from ATM. But keep in mind that if cash is not refilled in the ATM, there may be problems at some places.

The festival of Christmas is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country, due to which all government and private banks of India will remain closed on 25 December. Banking related counter services will not be available on this day, hence customers are advised to complete their important banking work in advance.
