Monsoon session of Parliament will start today, opposition can raise the issue of NEET paper leak, Ram Mandir and E-20 petrol.

The monsoon session of Parliament is starting from Monday (July 20). It is likely to continue till August 13. On the first day of this session, the opposition may raise the issue of NEET paper leak, removal of Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar. There are chances of huge uproar on the first day of the session. At the same time, the government will try to pass the delimitation and women’s reservation bill in this session. The opposition’s focus will also be on E-20 petrol and Ram Mandir donation theft case.

A day before the beginning of the session, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that he has appealed that the opposition should not create ruckus when the Parliament begins in the morning. If they create a ruckus, there will be loss.

All-party meeting held a day before

An all-party meeting was held before the beginning of the Parliament session. This meeting ended on Sunday evening. After the meeting, Rijiju said, “The meeting has just ended. It was a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of the Lok Sabha Speaker. Important bills have been presented in it by the government. Some people from the opposition have also given suggestions.” The government said the opposition should seek positive discussions and support the eight bills listed for discussion.

Government’s focus on delimitation bill

The strength of NDA has increased after the split between Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT). In such a situation, speculations are being made that the government may present a delimitation bill in this session. Leaders of South Indian states have vocally opposed this bill. He says that this will reduce his strength in the House. However, after the end of the alliance of Congress and DMK, the strength of the opposition has reduced. The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister said that if the Central Government decides to bring additional bills, it will first discuss them in the Trade Advisory Committee and the opposition will be informed about it. In such a situation, there is a possibility that the government may present the delimitation bill in the House during this session.

Government can introduce this bill

The government has announced some new bills, which will be introduced in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha during the upcoming monsoon session. According to a bulletin from the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Prevention of Insults to National Honor (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has been listed for introduction, consideration and passing. This bill provides for amendment in the Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act, 1971. Through this, the government wants to make insulting the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ or obstructing its singing a punishable offence. Besides this, the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has also been listed for introduction, consideration and passing. The purpose of this bill is to make the provisions related to delayed registration of births and deaths more stringent. The government will also introduce the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which is a bill to replace the ordinance brought in to formalize the provision of giving tax exemption to foreign investors investing in government securities.

NCPI MPs protest in all-party meeting

NCPI MPs were also called in the all-party meeting. Opposition leaders protested against this and walked out. After TMC’s defeat in West Bengal, 20 out of 28 party MPs joined the Nationalist Citizens Party of India. All these MPs will support the NDA alliance. At the same time, 6 out of 9 MPs from Uddhav faction have joined Shinde faction. In such a situation the opposition has become weak. If DMK joins NDA then the government can pass the delimitation bill.
