A shocking revelation has come to light about the theft of diamonds and gold jewelery worth lakhs of rupees that took place last year in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. The secret of the theft, about which no clue could be found for a year, was revealed by an Instagram post. The former house help posted her reel on social media wearing the stolen diamond necklace, following which the police arrested her and recovered precious jewelery worth lakhs of rupees.
No clue for 1 year, then Insta Reel spoiled the game
The matter is of Green IT Park located in Rajpur police station area. A diamond necklace and other precious gold jewelery had gone missing from the house of the victim Nitisha Vats about a year ago. Initially the family thought that the jewelery might have been forgotten somewhere or given to a relative. Vimala, the domestic help in the house, also won his trust by saying the same thing, due to which no one doubted her.

But recently an acquaintance of the victim told that her former domestic help had posted her picture wearing a diamond necklace on Instagram. As soon as Nitisha Vats saw the picture, she immediately recognized the necklace and lodged a complaint at Rajpur police station. As soon as the complaint was received, a police team was formed on the instructions of SSP Dehradun and investigation started.

‘Greed came to mind after seeing expensive jewellery’
On the basis of informer system and technical investigation, the police arrested the accused Vimala from Johri Road on Friday. At his behest, diamonds and gold jewelery worth lakhs of rupees were also recovered. During interrogation, the accused confessed that she used to work as a domestic help in the victim’s house. Seeing the expensive jewelery kept in the locker of the house, he got greedy and as soon as he got the chance, he stole the jewellery.

The accused told that after the theft, she tried to sell the jewelery several times, but due to the expensive diamond jewelery she could not sell it. During this time, she posted her picture wearing jewelery on Instagram, which eventually became the biggest evidence against her and the secret of the year-old theft was revealed.

Dehradun Police, while disclosing the entire matter in a press conference, said that due to technical investigation and police strategy, a year-old theft incident has been successfully exposed. All the stolen prime jewelery has been recovered from the possession of the accused and strict legal action is being taken against him. A photo posted for show on social media ultimately led to the arrest of the accused.
