Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Seychelles’ highest honor ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ for his leadership in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. This is the 34th international honor he is receiving from any country. President Patrick Hermini presented this honor to PM Modi. This is the first honor of its kind to be given by Seychelles. PM Modi thanked Seychelles for this honor and dedicated it to the countries that are fighting the challenges of climate change.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi said, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to President Ermini for our warm welcome and hospitality. It is a matter of great joy for me and for 140 crore Indians to be honored by him with the title of “Guardian of the Blue Horizon”. I humbly accept this honor and dedicate it to all those countries who are fighting the challenge of climate change and consider environmental protection as their responsibility towards future generations.”
PM Modi took the lead in environmental protection
“This honor recognizes the Prime Minister’s leadership and his unwavering commitment towards environmental protection, sustainable development, climate protection, blue economy and advancing the aspirations of Small Island Developing States,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a post on ‘X’. The Ministry of External Affairs said that ‘Mission Life’, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, International Solar Alliance, Disaster Resilient Infrastructure Alliance and ‘International Big Cat Alliance’ are major initiatives launched by Prime Minister Modi in this direction. Speaking on the occasion, Seychelles President Hermine said, “This honor is a mark of our nation’s deep respect and gratitude to the leaders and partners whose leadership and collaboration have embodied the spirit of being the custodian of our ‘Blue Horizon’.”

PM Modi shared the picture on social media platform He further wrote, “This is an extremely important challenge that we have to overcome together. Surya, in his own way, is ready to do everything possible to make the world more green and sustainable. This is reflected in our various domestic policies, the motto of LIFE Mission (envisioning a sustainable future) and global efforts like International Solar Alliance, Disaster Resilient Infrastructure Coalition, etc.”
PM Modi’s clear vision regarding clean energy
Let us tell you that today, India is the world’s third largest producer of renewable energy and its solar power capacity has increased more than 53 times in the last decade. Along with moving towards clean energy, India has also promoted biodiversity conservation through initiatives such as the ‘International Big Cat Alliance’, further strengthening its commitment towards protecting forests, wildlife and ecological balance. The conferment of the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ honor by Seychelles is yet another recognition of PM Modi’s consistent efforts to place environmental sustainability at the center of development and international cooperation.
