Advanced Agni Missile Test: To further strengthen its strategic strength, India has successfully tested the advanced Agni missile. DRDO successfully test-fired the advanced Agni missile equipped with MIRV i.e. Multiple Independently Targeted Re-entry Vehicle technology from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha on 8 May 2026. With this test, India once again proved that it is capable of destroying many different targets with one missile.
Missile hits different targets with multiple payloads
According to DRDO, the missile was tested with multiple payloads, which were sent towards targets located at different places in the Indian Ocean region. During this test, the flight of the missile was monitored through ground and ship-based tracking systems. The entire trajectory from launch till all payloads reached the target was successfully tracked. That is, it is a missile capable of destroying multiple targets simultaneously, which will be impossible for any air defense to stop. Analysis of flight data has confirmed that all mission objectives were successfully accomplished.
Why is Advanced Missile System special?
It is noteworthy that this advanced missile system has been developed in different labs of DRDO in collaboration with many industrial units of the country. During the test, senior DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers were present.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated
After the success of the test, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the country’s defense industry and the Indian Army on this successful test. He further said that this achievement will further strengthen India’s defense preparedness and will significantly increase the country’s military strength amid increasing security threats.
