middle-Amidst the ongoing tension in the East, the whole world is facing the oil and gas crisis. Compared to other countries, India’s situation is much better. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has tightened the rules for commercial LPG cylinders. According to an official order, the Delhi government has changed the rules for the supply of commercial LPG cylinders. Under this, it has been made mandatory for businesses like hotels, restaurants and dhabas to take or apply for PNG connection in those areas where PNG network is available.

Orders issued on April 2

The Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs, in an order issued on April 2, has amended a key section of its recent policy on distribution of commercial LPG cylinders. Under the amended rules, commercial and industrial consumers will be able to get LPG supply only if they are registered with the respective oil marketing companies (OMCs) and have applied for a PNG connection (where the network exists). According to the order, in areas where PNG infrastructure is not yet ready, consumers will have to submit an application expressing their intention to adopt PNG when it becomes available.

Details of interested consumers will be sent to Indraprastha Gas Limited

Officials said that the oil marketing company will be required to verify the documents at least once to ensure compliance with these conditions. Records of consumers expressing their desire to be transferred to PNG will also be shared with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) for further action. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, had said on Thursday that the supply of LPG in the country remains completely stable. He said that there is sufficient stock available with all the distributors and there is no shortage anywhere.
