‘Ramayana’, being directed by Nitish Tiwari, is one of the most awaited mythological films of Indian cinema. The first chapter of this grand saga being made in two parts is all set to hit the theaters on the occasion of Diwali 2026. Recently, the film’s core team was seen on the global stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, which included lead actor Ranbir Kapoor, superstar Yash, director Nitish Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. During this international event, the entire team openly discussed many important aspects related to this ambitious project.

During an exclusive conversation with actress and host Kari Lane at Comic-Con, Ranbir Kapoor revealed the intense preparation he has done mentally, physically and spiritually to get into the sacred and intense character of Lord Ram. Ranbir revealed that to deeply understand the character, he practiced yoga continuously for two years and studied mythological texts extensively. He took guidance from many theologians and scholars. Ranbir told, ‘My guru Suvir used to sit with me in meditation for hours, so that I could get closer to the teachings and thoughts of Lord Ram. Many versions and interpretations of the Ramayana exist, which have been presented through TV, radio, plays and music. But we have understood every aspect very closely.

‘Such a scale has never been seen before in Indian cinema’

Ranbir Kapoor further said that everyone has a different perspective on Ramayana and this is what makes every adaptation special. He believes that this film will also offer a unique and new perspective on the epic. He said that Ramayana has never been made on such a huge and grand scale in India till date, and this grandeur makes it very special for the audiences all over the world.

Trailer release postponed

Along with the event, the makers shared a big update regarding the trailer of the film. The makers announced that the trailer of Ramayan will now be launched simultaneously across the world at a new date. The official statement issued said, ‘This will be a proud moment in the history of more than 100 years of Indian cinema, when our ‘Ramayana’ will be presented to the whole world like a big global Hollywood film.’ The makers said that this move will open a new door to introduce people across the world to our rich culture and heritage.

A film adorned with veteran actors and world-class music

‘Ramayana’ has more than one artist in the lead roles. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi (Mata Sita), Yash (Ravana), Ravi Dubey (Lakshman), Sunny Deol (Hanuman), Rakul Preet Singh (Shurpanakha), Kunal Kapoor (Indradev), Arun Govil (King Dasharatha), Lara Dutta (Kaikayi) and Vivek Oberoi (Vidyutjihva) will be seen in it. This dream project is being jointly produced by Namit Malhotra and Kannada superstar Yash, while its script is written by Sridhar Raghavan. The music of the film is being composed by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.
