After filing FIR in Maharashtra, now a new police case has been registered against stand-up comedian Pranit More in Gurugram. Along with Praneet, a case has also been registered against tech professional Himanshu Jangra. Both the videos are under constant trolling and questions ever since they went viral. Case registered under several sections
Based on the complaint of the National Commission for Women (NCW), an FIR was registered against More and Himanshu Jangra. Gurugram Police has registered a case against comedians Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra in the ‘370 Biryani’ case. Notices have been issued to the accused to join the investigation and social media platforms to remove the video. This case has been registered under Section 67 of the IT Act and Sections 294, 353(3), 75(2) and 75(3) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). A thorough investigation of the case is going on under the supervision of the Police Commissioner.
What is the whole controversy?
The controversy started when Jangra, who was in the audience during a show of More in Gurugram, said that he had spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani on a date. Later, when the woman asked him to drop her home, he demanded to be intimate in return. There was a lot of anger among the people on this matter. There was strong opposition to these comments on social media. Many accused him of normalizing sexual coercion and non-consensual behavior with women. Critics also said that Morey further encouraged these comments by laughing during the conversation and later sharing the video online.
First case registered in Maharashtra
This legal action has taken place in Gurugram at a time when Maharashtra Cyber Cell has already registered an FIR against More and Jangra regarding the same dispute. NCW immediately intervened in the matter, sought action from law enforcement agencies and summoned those involved. After the intervention of the commission, Gurugram police registered an FIR against both of them. The commission said these comments encourage coercive behavior and undermine the principle of consent.
