Indian business group Adani is now going to strengthen its hold in Europe’s port and energy storage business. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has entered into an agreement to acquire Evos BV, Europe’s second largest independent liquid storage operator. This deal is worth 2.56 billion euros i.e. more than Rs 22,000 crore. With this acquisition, Adani Group will get direct presence in many major energy and industrial centers of Europe.
APSEZ said on Thursday that it will buy 100 percent stake in Netherlands company Evos. This stake will be taken from the company’s current owner Ignio Infrastructure Partners. The entire deal will be in cash. Evos’ enterprise value is estimated at EUR 2.56 billion, while its equity value is estimated at EUR 1.18 billion. Adani Ports will raise funds for the deal through debt. However, necessary regulatory approvals and consultation with the employee representative council are pending to complete the acquisition. That means this deal has not been finalized yet.
Evos business is spread in 5 countries
Headquartered in the Netherlands, Evos operates in five countries in Europe – the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Malta. The company has eight port based terminals with a total storage capacity of 63 lakh cubic metres. These terminals are located in important energy and industrial centers of Europe. These include the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region, Hamburg and major centers on the Mediterranean. Through these terminals, the company provides storage facilities to liquid products and energy related businesses. This will provide APSEZ an opportunity to expand its presence in the global liquid storage and energy hub.
Evos’ EBITDA was 219 million euros
Talking about financial performance, Evos had recorded revenue of 392 million euros in calendar year 2025. The company’s EBITDA during this period was 219 million euros. This means that the company’s EBITDA margin was around 56 percent. The deal is valued at 11.7x CY25 EV/EBITDA.
Preparation to handle 1 billion tons of cargo
APSEZ Managing Director Karan Adani described this acquisition as an important achievement for the company. According to him, this deal is an important step towards handling one billion tonnes of cargo annually and creating a globally integrated transport platform. According to the company, the pro-forma net debt-to-EBITDA ratio of the combined business after the acquisition is expected to be 2.76x, which may reduce to around 2.5x by FY27. Adani Ports expects that this transaction will allow it to expand into the European energy market and take advantage of the opportunities associated with the future clean energy transition.
