Meerut-Rishikesh Namo Bharat gets approval, will be able to reach Uttarakhand from Delhi in 3 hours! Know where the stations will be built

There is great news for lakhs of people of Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee, Haridwar and Rishikesh. A major step has now been taken towards extending the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat (Rapid Rail) corridor up to Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. After the agreement between UP, Uttarakhand government and NCRTC, the way for this ambitious project has almost been cleared. After its completion, the journey from Delhi to Rishikesh can be completed in just 3 hours, which will provide great relief to travelers, tourists and pilgrims.

Namo Bharat corridor will extend from Meerut to Rishikesh

At present Namo Bharat train is operating from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut. Now a plan has been made to extend this corridor by about 150 kilometers to Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh. After expansion, the entire corridor will be approximately 230 kilometers long. The maximum speed of Namo Bharat train will be 160 kilometers per hour, which will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Rishikesh by almost half. At present this journey by road takes about 6 hours.

Which cities will get the benefit?

The proposed route will connect many important cities of Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. As per initial planning the train may pass through the following stations:

• Daurala
• Khatauli
• Muzaffarnagar
• Purkaji
• Roorkee
• Haridwar
• har ki pauri
• Rishikesh
• Lakshman Jhula (Terminal Station)

However, some changes are possible in the stations after the final DPR and technical survey.

Tourism and pilgrimage will get a boost

The biggest benefit of this project will be to the tourism and religious places of Uttarakhand. Access to major pilgrimage sites like Haridwar, Har Ki Pauri and Rishikesh will be easier than ever. Devotees and tourists coming from Delhi-NCR will get relief from traffic jams and long journeys. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also described this project as important for the tourism and economic development of the state.

DPR survey will start soon

Now the survey to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this 150 km long extension route will be started soon. Uttarakhand government has appointed nodal officer for this, while NCRTC has also started preparations to take the project forward.
