Navi Mumbai International Airport now seems completely ready for the start of international flights. According to the airport management, international passenger and cargo services can be started from here from July 15, 2026. This is expected to provide great relief to the passengers of Mumbai and surrounding areas.
Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL) CEO BVJK Sharma said that preparations are on to start international cargo and freighter operations from July 15. Along with this, international passenger flights are also expected to start from this date. Major airlines like Air India Express and Indigo can operate international services from here.
Custom and other approvals process in final stages
The airport has almost received the necessary government and custom approvals for international operations. Officials of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) recently inspected the preparations at the airport. The final trading notification may be issued in early July after the formalities related to customs, cargo and courier operations are completed.
There will be a big increase in the number of passengers
Navi Mumbai airport started operating domestic flights from December last year. At present around 20,000 passengers and 150 aircraft movements (arrivals and departures) are being recorded daily. Airport management estimates that this number could increase to 50,000 passengers per day and 380 air traffic movements by the end of the year.

With the commencement of international operations of Navi Mumbai Airport, the passenger pressure at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will reduce.
