Amidst the ongoing political controversy in Trinamool Congress (TMC), the Lok Sabha Speaker has called the party’s national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee to present his side on June 19 (Friday). This information has come to light quoting sources. Speaker Om Birla wants to listen to both sides in the matter related to merger and party status of MPs.

20 rebel MPs will be discussed with the Lok Sabha Speaker

Sources said on Wednesday that Om Birla has called Abhishek Banerjee on June 19 for a discussion about the 20 rebel MPs and their stand on the matter. This development has come to light amid growing differences within TMC after the assembly elections.

20 rebel TMC MPs merged with NCPI

It is known that on June 14, a total of 20 rebel TMC MPs met President Om Birla and submitted a letter regarding the merger of their group with the Tripura-based Nationalist Congress Party of India (NCPI). He also demanded a separate seating arrangement in the lower house of Parliament.

Decision will be taken after listening to both the groups

According to sources, Speaker Om Birla is reviewing the situation of 20 rebel MPs and will take a decision after listening to both the groups. According to sources, this meeting was held at a previously scheduled time, in which Abhishek Banerjee could not attend.

Lok Sabha Speaker’s mail was also sent on June 15

According to TMC sources, the Lok Sabha Speaker’s office had sent an email to Abhishek Banerjee regarding the meeting at 2 pm on June 15. Sources said Banerjee was appearing before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning, during which she did not have access to her mobile phone or personal email. In the message received from the Speaker’s office, Banerjee was given two hours’ time and was directed to meet the Speaker in Delhi by 4 pm the same day.

Rebel group also handed over letter to Birla

At the same time, a letter in this regard has already been submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on behalf of the rebel faction of TMC. Now Abhishek Banerjee will present his side on behalf of TMC leadership. It is believed that after hearing the arguments of both the sides, the Speaker can decide on the further process.
