Actually, next year i.e. 2026, 1st February will fall on Sunday. In such a situation, a big question is arising whether Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget of the country on Sunday, 1st February itself or this time the budget will be presented on 2nd February.

If parliamentary traditions are followed, the budget will be presented on Sunday only.

According to a PTI report, officials say that if parliamentary traditions are followed, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the country’s general budget for the financial year 2026-27 on Sunday, February 1. On the question asked about the presentation of the budget on Sunday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs will take a decision when the right time comes. Let us tell you that before 2017, the country’s budget was presented on the last day of February.

Has Parliament been convened on Sunday before also?

Let us tell you that under special circumstances, meetings have been held in Parliament on Sundays also. Parliament was convened on Sunday during the Corona epidemic in the year 2020. Before that, on Sunday, 13 May 2012, all the MPs were called to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first sitting of the Parliament.

Nirmala Sitharaman will present her 9th budget speech on February 1, 2026. This will be his 9th consecutive budget. Let us tell you that the record of presenting the highest budget for the country is in the name of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who also served as the Finance Minister. Morarji Desai had presented the country’s general budget in the Parliament a total of 10 times from 1959 to 1964 and again from 1967 to 1969.
