Vande Bharat Sleeper train: Indian Railways is once again standing on the threshold of creating history. Just as Vande Bharat Express changed the picture of day travel, now in the same sequence, preparations have been made to make night travel also completely hi-tech and luxury. After a long wait, finally a big and official announcement regarding the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train has come out. On the first day of the new year, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has made it clear that the testing and certification of this mega project has been completed and the passengers are going to benefit from it very soon.
Historic start will take place from this route
According to the Railway Minister, the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will run between Guwahati and Kolkata (Howrah). This route is also special because it will provide fast, safe and comfortable connectivity to North-East India with the major cities of the country. Ashwini Vaishnav told that in the coming days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will flag off this train. This is not just a new train for Indian Railways, but is considered a major achievement of indigenous technology and modern engineering.
Night travel will now be a luxury
Vande Bharat Sleeper has been specially designed for long distance overnight journeys. Passengers in the train will get such an experience, which till now was limited only to flights or five-star hotels. Comfortable beds with better cushioning, smooth journey without jerks, automatic sliding doors, sensor-based lighting and modern vacuum toilets make it completely different from conventional trains. This train is also very special from security point of view. The indigenous ‘Kavach’ safety system has been installed in it, which almost eliminates the possibility of incidents like collision.
Fare will be cheaper than flight
The biggest attraction of this train is considered to be its fare. The Railway Minister said that while the flight fare on the Guwahati-Kolkata route usually ranges from Rs 6000 to Rs 8000 and sometimes reaches Rs 10000, the Vande Bharat sleeper fare will be kept very affordable. According to the proposed fare, 3AC fare can be around Rs 2300, 2AC around Rs 3000 and First AC around Rs 3600, that too with food.
Facility will be available on further routes also
After the successful launch on the Guwahati-Kolkata route, Railways plans to introduce Vande Bharat sleeper trains on other major routes like Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Patna.
