The government has said that this is not a new rule, but is part of an ongoing process, aimed at encouraging more consumers to complete eKYC. As per the clarification, eKYC is necessary only for those LPG customers who are not yet getting their eKYC done.

The government has said that if you are a non-PMUY (outside Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana) customer and have already done eKYC, then you do not need to do it again. At the same time, customers covered under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) have to do eKYC only once in every financial year. This process is also necessary only if they want to avail the benefit of subsidy (DBT) on 8th and 9th refill after 7 cylinder refills.
You can complete the eKYC process for free sitting at home
The government also said that the process of eKYC is very easy and can be completed at home for free. Along with this, it has also been clarified that even in the absence of eKYC, there will be no impact on the availability of LPG subsidy. The eKYC process enhances transfers, clarifies eligibility, identifies fake beneficiaries and helps prevent misuse or diversion of LPG.
Easy way to do LPG e-KYC sitting at home
- First of all download the official mobile app of your LPG provider and Aadhaar FaceRD app.
- After this, register or log-in to the app with the help of the mobile number linked to your LPG connection.
- After logging in, click on the e-KYC option given in the app and enter your Aadhaar number.
- After this allow for authentication.
- Now you have to complete face authentication through Aadhaar FaceRD app.
- As soon as your face is successfully verified, the system will give you confirmation of e-KYC completion.
Once this process is completed, your LPG connection will be updated and you will not have to face any problem further.
