After Rahul, CTI has now written a letter to Sonia Gandhi regarding the proposed opposition rally on November 1. CTI says that business may come to a halt in Delhi on 31st October and 1st November and there is an atmosphere of panic among the 20 lakh traders of Delhi regarding this. CTI wrote in its letter, the example of 4-10 October is in front. On October 10, only 5000 to 7000 people came to Jantar Mantar and Central Delhi was jammed for 8 hours. Now 10 lakh people are coming, what will happen in Delhi?

CTI has two demands from Sonia Gandhi:

  1. The November rally should be shifted after Diwali to 10-11 November, so that there is no disruption in business on Dhanteras and Diwali.
  2. If a rally has to be held then it should be shifted from Ramlila Maidan to Burari Maidan where there is parking space for 15,000 vehicles.

What did CTI urge?

CTI said, these 20 markets are not just markets, they are the heartbeat of Delhi. There is a business of Rs 10 to 12 thousand crores every day and Dhanteras is on 6th November. Traders are scared that if there will be a lockdown-like jam in Central Delhi on 31st October and 1st November, then how will their goods for Dhanteras and Diwali come and go? Apart from this, every day 3-4 lakh people from cities and towns around Delhi come to different markets of Delhi for shopping, they will also shy away from coming.

what was written in the letter
Respected Sonia ji, you have always heard the voice of the small businessman. We hope that you will listen to our request and postpone the rally after Diwali. We had also appealed to Rahul Gandhi ji, but he refused. Now the last hope is only from you.

Business organizations wrote letters to opposition leaders
Apart from Rahul Sonia, business organizations of Delhi have also written letters to Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee. Sadar Bazaar Trade Association Federation and Grocery Committee Delhi said the rally may affect business in many wholesale markets during the festive season. Traders organizations have urged Akhilesh and Mamata Banerjee to raise this matter with the Congress leadership.

He urged the leaders of both the India Bloc member parties to raise the matter with the Congress leadership. In letters to Yadav and Banerjee, the organizations said that Delhi trades around Rs 25,000 crore between Dhanteras and Diwali and has already suffered a loss of around Rs 3,000 crore due to the protests, rallies and traffic restrictions in September-October.

Organizations warned
Traders’ organizations warned that another big gathering during the peak shopping season could lead to additional losses of up to Rs 10,000 crore. They also said that apart from traders, its impact could also spread to workers, delivery personnel and others whose livelihood depends on business activities. The organizations pointed out that about 20 major wholesale and retail markets, including Sadar Bazaar, Khari Baoli and Chandni Chowk, fall within a 5-km radius of Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi.
