Udaipur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday said India’s history is not one of slavery but of continuous struggle against those who tried to enslave the country. He alleged that some forces in the country and abroad are creating false narratives and trying to mislead people to stop India’s rise. Bhagwat was addressing an event organized on the eve of the 450th anniversary of the Haldighati battle. He said that Maharana Pratap had won the battle of Haldighati.
‘People are being misled in India’
Bhagwat said, ‘Today efforts are being made to stop India from moving forward. False news is being spread and many methods are being adopted to mislead people. The RSS chief said that those opposing India’s rise have the population, power, economic resources and organizational capacity, but despite this, India will have to stand strong on the basis of its values. He said,
‘Those who oppose India’s rise have the population, power, economic resources and organizational capacity, yet we must stand firm on the basis of our values.’
‘We have to stick to our civilizational values’
Bhagwat said that to face the challenges of the present times, the country will have to stick to its ideals and civilizational values. He said, ‘To face the current challenges, we have to stick to our ideals and civilizational values.’ In his address, Bhagwat made special mention of the legacy of the great Rajput ruler of Mewar, Maharana Pratap, and the Haldighati battle. He said that the life of Maharana Pratap is a symbol of protection of religion, culture and self-respect.
‘India’s strength lies in its cultural heritage’
Bhagwat said that Maharana Pratap never fought for personal gain, but dedicated his life to protect religion, culture and self-respect. He said,
‘Our history is not of slavery, but of struggle against those who tried to enslave us. Maharana Pratap fought against atrocities, for religion and culture and for the independence of his land. In today’s times, there is a need to take inspiration from those great men who did not compromise with their principles and resolve even in difficult circumstances. India’s real strength lies not in its population or material resources, but in its thousands of years old civilizational and cultural heritage.
‘The battle of Haldighati was not just a battle’
Bhagwat appealed to the people to rise above narrow identities and divisions and strengthen national unity. He said, ‘We should remain united in the same way as the people of Mewar stood with Maharana Pratap. We will have to work together for the progress of India. Referring to the battle of Haldighati, Bhagwat said that it should not be seen only as a war. He said,
‘The battle of Haldighati was not just a battle. It was a symbol of the long-term struggle of Indian society against foreign invasions.
‘Pratap’s struggle became an inspiration for generations’
Bhagwat claimed that Maharana Pratap had emerged victorious from this war and his struggle became an inspiration for the coming generations. He said, ‘Various invaders came, some even gained power, but India never accepted slavery at the social and cultural level. Even during difficult periods of history, India preserved its cultural identity. We have seen both good and bad times, but our religion and our culture remained intact.
‘India’s rise is important for the world too’
At the end of his address, Bhagwat said that the rise of India is not only in the interest of the country but is also necessary for the welfare of the entire world. He said that a strong and prosperous India can play an important role in global peace, stability and human welfare. Bhagwat said, ‘India’s rise is important not only for India but also for the welfare of the world and a strong India is also necessary for the world.’
