Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the 23 km long Meerut Metro from Modipuram to Meerut South on February 22. In the first phase of Meerut Metro, there will be a total of 13 stations from Modipuram to Meerut South. National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) started the work of Meerut Metro Project in the year 2019, which is going to start after 7 years. Meerut Metro is going to become the fastest running metro service of the country, whose maximum operational speed will be 120 kilometers per hour. Let us tell you that the metro train running on the Airport Express Line in the capital of India, Delhi, also provides services with a top speed of 120 km per hour. Apart from this, the metro does not run at this speed on any other line of Delhi Metro. Not only this, even in big cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru, the top operational speed of metro trains is still below 100 km per hour.
Meerut Metro will run on the track laid for Namo Bharat semi-high-speed train.
Meerut Metro, a distance of 23 km from Modipuram to Meerut South, will run on the track laid for Namo Bharat Semi High-Speed Train, due to which its speed will be 120 km per hour. Let us tell you that the top operational speed of Namo Bharat Semi High-Speed Train on those tracks is 160 km per hour. Meerut Metro, running on Namo Bharat tracks, has been directly connected with Namo Bharat and will complete its journey stopping at stations built for Namo Bharat. This 23 km long metro corridor from Modipuram to Meerut South will start from Modipuram Depot station and end at Meerut South.
Meerut Metro will also stop at stations built for Namo Bharat
After starting from Modipuram depot, it will reach Meerut South via Modipuram, Meerut North, Daurli, MES Colony, Begumpul, Bhainsali, Meerut Central, Brahmpuri, Shatabdi Nagar, Rithani, Partapur. Meerut Metro in its journey will stop at the stations built for Namo Bharat in Modipuram, Begumpul, Shatabdi Nagar and Meerut South. However, there will be separate platforms at these stations for NaMo Bharat and Meerut Metro. Passengers who want to travel from Modipuram to Delhi will be able to get down at Meerut South and take Namo Bharat train.
Currently Delhi’s Airport Express Metro is the fastest
Meerut Metro will complete its 23 km journey in 30 minutes. Let us tell you that the metro train running on Delhi’s Airport Express Line is currently the fastest running metro train in the country on the entire metro network of the country, whose top operational speed is 120 km per hour. However, after the commencement of Meerut Metro services, Airport Express Metro and Meerut Metro will jointly come to the first place in this list. Whereas, the top operational speed of Delhi Metro on other lines is around 80 km per hour.
