Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced at the AI Impact Summit on Monday that the government will soon launch the ‘Create in India’ mission. This ambitious initiative will focus on empowering industries in the country, generating large-scale employment and developing a future-ready talent pipeline. Vaishnav said that this mission will further strengthen India’s existing capabilities and will work towards making the country the most preferred platform globally. He stressed that the impact of Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI on society and economy should be complementary, not debilitating. Many developed countries are adopting AI as the new standard.
Government’s viewpoint
Amid concerns over the potential impact of AI on jobs, the minister clarified that the talent base in India is growing rapidly. He said that talent growth is happening naturally in the country and the government is actively encouraging it. Referring to the announcements of Budget 2026, Vaishnav said that Content Creator Labs will be set up in 15,000 schools across the country.
These labs are being developed in collaboration with industries, so that students can be exposed to new technologies and creative skills from an early stage. He also informed that world class students are studying in the semiconductor field in 350 universities of the country and similarly a large number of skilled students will be prepared in the field of AI also.
AI: Innovation’s ally
Rejecting notions that AI is a threat to innovation and creativity, Vaishnav said that Artificial Intelligence is now with us permanently. It will not replace human creativity or storytelling ability, but will work in conjunction with it. He said that AI will not replace creativity, but will co-exist with it. He compared the adoption of new technology to a process as natural as “a fish taking to water.” The government believes that the combination of technology and creativity will create new opportunities in both industrial and creative sectors and India will emerge as a global innovation hub.
