
At the beginning of the new year, there is great news for lakhs of people of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi government is soon going to provide relief to the people who are dreaming of buying or settling their house in cities. The state government is preparing to launch new housing schemes in about 22 cities including Varanasi, Kanpur, Mathura-Vrindavan under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme. It is estimated that about 50 thousand people will get housing facilities through these schemes.
According to government sources, most of the land has been arranged for these housing schemes. These schemes will be started step by step in different cities in the year 2026. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given clear instructions to the Housing Department that every needy person should get a permanent and safe house. For this purpose, the government has started the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme.
Seed capital model
Under this scheme, money is being given initially to the Development Authority and Housing Development Council, so that they can buy land and build new houses and residential projects. This money will gradually be returned to the government from the income generated from these projects. A total of Rs 13,887 crore has been sanctioned for bringing housing schemes in 31 cities in the state, out of which Rs 6,440 crore has been released so far.

The Development Authority and Housing Development Council have to purchase a total of 7,183.94 hectares of land for new housing schemes. So far, approximately 1,539.25 hectares of land has been purchased. Recently, in a government meeting, instructions have been given to all the authorities to start these schemes on time by the year 2026.

Not only houses will be built in these housing schemes. Every scheme will also have facilities like school, college, nursing home, park, community centre. Along with this, adequate space will also be kept for greenery and parks for environment and better life.

The cities where residential schemes will be launched soon include Gorakhpur, Chitrakoot, Agra, Bulandshahr, Varanasi, Moradabad, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Mathura-Vrindavan, Firozabad, Lucknow IT City and Wellness City, Khurja, Banda, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur-Pilkhua and Rampur. Apart from this, the Housing Development Council is also preparing to launch new schemes in four other cities.
