There is news of great relief for the travelers planning to go home during summer holidays. Central Railway has announced that this time in view of the huge crowd, more than 2100 summer special trains will be run from Mumbai and Pune. This will make it easier for lakhs of passengers to get confirmed tickets and the problem of waiting can be reduced to a great extent.
How many trains will run and what is special?
According to Railways, out of the total 2100+ special trains, 735 will be unreserved (without reservation) trains, while 624 reserved trains will be available for passengers. These trains are being run especially keeping in mind those passengers who travel to their homes or for holidays in summer.
On which routes will trains be available within Maharashtra?
Special arrangements have also been made for people traveling within the state. These special trains will run on Mumbai/Daund – Solapur, Pune – Kolhapur, Nashik Road – Badnera and Hadapsar – Harangul routes. There is huge crowd on these routes every year, hence this time extra trains are being run.
Relief for those going outside Maharashtra also
If you are thinking of going to other states, then there is good news for you too. Special trains will also run on Mumbai – Ballia, Mumbai – Gorakhpur, Daund – Kalaburagi and Solapur – Kalaburagi/Anakapalle routes. This will provide great convenience to the passengers going to UP, Bihar and South India.
Benefit of ‘train on demand’ also
Railways said that these special trains also include the already running Train on Demand service. Also, in view of the huge crowd, additional new trains have also been run, so that the passengers do not face any problem during the journey.
Big data and preparation of Railways
Indian Railways ran 76,352 special trains in the last financial year (2025-26), which is a record. Around 25,000 trains are being run across the country every day. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Railways is continuously working on improving the convenience and safety of passengers.
