Stock Market Highlights 23 March 2026: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the domestic stock market continues to suffer a catastrophic decline. On the first day of the week, the Indian stock market recorded a massive fall of 2.5 percent. On Monday, BSE Sensex closed at 72,696.39 points with a huge fall of 1836.57 points (2.46 percent). Whereas, NSE’s Nifty 50 index also fell by 601.85 points (2.60 percent) today and closed at 22,512.65 points. Due to today’s fall, investors lost about Rs 14 lakh crore. Let us tell you that today the market crashed as soon as it opened.

Shares of 47 out of 50 Nifty companies closed in the red.

On Monday, shares of only 4 out of 30 Sensex companies closed in the green with gains and shares of all the remaining 26 companies closed in the red with a decline. Similarly, out of 50 companies of Nifty 50, the shares of only 3 companies closed in the green mark with a rise and the shares of all the remaining 47 companies closed in the red mark with a fall. Shares of HCL Tech, included among the Sensex companies, closed today with the maximum rise of 1.83 percent, while the shares of Tata Group company Titan closed today with the maximum fall of 6.24 percent.

How did the rest of the Sensex stocks perform?

Among other Sensex companies today, shares of Power Grid closed with gains of 1.39 percent, Infosys with gains of 0.28 percent and Tech Mahindra with gains of 0.19 percent.

On the other hand, today shares of Trent 5.90 percent, UltraTech Cement 5.40 percent, BEL 4.85 percent, Indigo 4.85 percent, Tata Steel 4.80 percent, HDFC Bank 4.70 percent, Adani Ports 4.49 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra 3.55 percent, Asian Paints 3.41 percent, ITC 3.17 percent, Bajaj Finserv 2.91 percent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 2.89 percent, Axis Bank 2.79 percent, Bharti Airtel 2.72 percent, L&T 2.70 percent, SBI 2.52 percent, Eternal 2.30 percent, Bajaj Finance 2.23 percent, NTPC 2.17 percent, Maruti Suzuki 1.97 percent, ICICI Bank 1.84 percent, Shares of Hindustan Unilever closed down by 1.43 per cent, Sun Pharma by 1.19 per cent, Reliance Industries by 0.52 per cent and TCS by 0.32 per cent.
