
Himachal State Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu started helicopter services by flagging off Sanjauli Heliport in Shimla on Wednesday. This is being considered a big step to promote air connectivity and tourism in the state. Himachal Pradesh officials gave this information. With this, daily helicopter service started from Sanjauli Heliport to Bhuntar Airport located in Kullu and ITBP Helipad located in Recong Peyo. Apart from this, helicopter service will also be operated between Chandigarh and Sanjauli Heliport 3 days a week i.e. Monday, Friday and Saturday.
How much will be the fare for helicopter service?
The fare for helicopter service between Sanjauli and Kullu will be Rs 3500 per passenger, while between Sanjauli and Reckong Peo will be Rs 4000. Apart from this, the fare from Sanjauli to Chandigarh has been fixed at Rs 3169. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that helicopter services will also be started soon on Sanjauli-Rampur-Rekong Peo and Sanjauli-Manali (SASE Helipad) routes. “Proposals for approval of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for these routes have already been sent to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA),” he said.
Sanjauli Heliport is very close to IGMC
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the Sanjauli heliport located near Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), Shimla, will prove to be very useful during medical emergencies. Let us tell you that Sanjauli is a suburban area about 6 km away from Shimla. It is connected to Shimla by two roads including Circular Road and Victory Tunnel. Important tourist destinations like Kufri, Naldehra and Narkanda are located beyond Sanjauli. Sanjauli Heliport was built at a cost of approximately Rs 15.86 crore. Officials said that although it was inaugurated on January 12, 2022, operations could not start earlier due to lack of DGCA approval.
