A relief news has emerged for lakhs of passengers traveling by train. Railways has now taken a major decision on the demand which passengers have been raising for a long time. Superfast status will be removed from 10 major trains of the country from mid-April. Along with this, the fare of these trains will also be reduced, which will reduce the burden on the pockets of common passengers. The special thing is that all these trains will now run in the general express category and their numbers will also be changed.

This new system of Railways will be implemented between 13th to 16th April. Among the trains from which the superfast tag is being removed, the prominent ones are Vibhuti Express going from Prayagraj Rambagh to Howrah and Netaji Express going from Howrah to Kalka via Prayagraj Junction. Vibhuti Express stops at 31 stations between Rambagh and Howrah, while Netaji Express stops at a total of 38 stations including Prayagraj Junction.

Apart from this, trains like Howrah-Dehradun Kumbh Express, Howrah-Dehradun Upasana Express and Howrah-Jammutvi Himgiri Express running via Varanasi and Lucknow are also being removed from the list of superfast. The number of stoppages in these trains is quite high, due to which their travel time becomes equal to that of normal express trains.

Additional charges will be less

Passengers said that when trains are not running at superfast speed, then why should extra fees be charged. Railways levy additional charges in general, sleeper and AC coaches in the name of superfast trains. For example, an additional fee of Rs 30 was charged in sleeper coach of Vibhuti Express and Rs 45 in AC 3 and AC 2.

What do the Railways think?

Now after the removal of Superfast status, this additional fare will not have to be paid. Railways believes that this will make the fare rational and will provide direct relief to the passengers. Overall, this decision is a great news for those passengers who travel daily or long distance by train.
