The journey from Delhi to Noida International Airport is now going to be even faster, convenient and hassle-free. Major preparations are now underway to change the proposed route from Ghaziabad’s Siddharth Vihar to connect it directly to Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan. It is being considered as a game changer for lakhs of passengers of Delhi-NCR, because this will make the connectivity of Noida Airport as easy as that of IGI Airport.
Why is the entire route being changed?
Earlier, NCRTC had prepared the DPR of the 72.4 km long Namo Bharat and Metro corridor from Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad to Noida Airport. A total of 22 stations were proposed on this route and the cost would be around Rs 20,637 crore. But the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (Mahua) of the Central Government returned the DPR. The main objection was that Noida Airport could not be directly connected to Delhi through this route, due to which passengers and transport system would be affected. Mahua clearly said that it is necessary to connect Noida Airport directly with Delhi, so that the original traffic of Delhi can be easily diverted in the airport direction without any change. For this reason, the route is now being changed under the fresh plan.
New route will start from Delhi
Sarai Kale Khan will be made the starting point of the new route. From here, there are preparations to run both Namo Bharat and Metro directly to Noida Airport. The proposed route is as follows: Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi), Noida City Centre, NSEZ, Surajpur, Knowledge Park-3, Pari Chowk, Ecotech-6, Dankaur, YIDA Sector-18 & 21 and Noida International Airport. However, how many stations there will be, how many kilometers long the route will be and what will be the cost, all this will be decided after the feasibility report.
Delhi-NCR travelers will get big benefits
After the preparation of this new route, the journey from Delhi to Noida Airport will be completed in a very short time. Passengers will get both Metro and Namo Bharat options. Besides, there will be great relief from the problem of traffic jam and the connectivity of the airport will reach the level of IGI. NCRTC has got the responsibility of preparing the feasibility report of this new route. After the report the route may get final approval.
