
Indian-origin Russian businessman Rajesh Sharma, who is part of President Vladimir Putin’s delegation, shared his views on India-Russia relations and business opportunities in an exclusive interview with India TV. Rajesh Sharma said that today a meeting of leading businessmen of Russia was held with Piyush Goyal. On this occasion, Union Minister Piyush Goyal also said that the friendship between India and Russia is not just of one, two or ten years, but is many decades old and strong.
Target to increase trade to 100 billion dollars
Rajesh Sharma further said that a target of up to 100 billion dollars has been set to increase trade between India and Russia. He said that this goal is certainly difficult, but not impossible. The Russian people view India and the Indian people with great respect and admiration. He also shared that even today in Russia, Raj Kapoor’s song ‘Sar Par Lal Topi Rusi, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’ is heard and loved with great love.

Rajesh Sharma also praised the relationships between world leaders and said that Prime Minister Modi and President Putin are among the most powerful leaders in the world and their pair has been very influential and successful.
Introduction of Rajesh Sharma
Rajesh Sharma was born in 1965 in New Delhi. After completing his studies, he obtained a graduation degree in Mechanical Engineering and started his career in a leading Multinational Company (MNC) of India. In 1991, he was sent to Russia on international assignment, where he began exploring new opportunities for Indian business and industry.
Important contribution to Indian Business Alliance
In 1994, Rajesh Sharma joined the founding members of the Indian Business Alliance i.e. IBA Moscow and served as its President from 2000 to 2003. Seeing the low popularity of Indian products in Russia, he started the “Indian Success Stories” program in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO). The aim of this initiative was to showcase Indian quality and standards in key industry sectors to Russian political and business decision-making. Even today he is an active member of the Council Board of IBA.
Entering the pharmaceutical sector
Seeing the business potential between India and Russia, Rajesh Sharma founded Advanced Trading – a pharmaceutical distribution and marketing company in 2003. After establishing a strong service chain, they started investing in local manufacturing in Russia to make a lasting and sustainable contribution to the pharmaceutical industry.
