Rail Indian Railways has taken a big step to provide better facilities to the passengers. With this step of Railways, passengers will now get more cleanliness in trains than before. In fact, the Railway Ministry launched a reform on Saturday to increase cleanliness in long distance trains. Under this reform, a professional team equipped with technology will be deployed. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that all the coaches including general class will be cleaned as per the need. This will be done by ensuring clear responsibility and accountability for the service providers deployed and assembling a professional, disciplined and dynamic team that can deliver beyond passenger expectations.
Trains will be cleaned every hour during travel
The Union Minister said that under the existing ‘Clean Train Station’ scheme, trains are cleaned at designated stations on their routes. He said that under the new reform, trains will now be cleaned by trained personnel every hour during the journey or as needed. He said monitoring, feedback and performance management would be done on real-time basis with the help of technology. He said that these services will include cleaning of all coaches, toilets and basins, garbage collection, minor repair work, coordination of filling of water as per need and checking and updating the status of safety equipment. This work will be done by trained supervisors and service personnel.
At present, service will start in 80 long distance trains.
Ashwini Vaishnav said, “The frequency of cleaning will be regulated on the basis of peak and non-peak hours and monitoring rooms will be set up to monitor the cleaning process with the help of technology.” She said that 80 trains have been identified for implementation of the reform and based on the experience, it will be implemented in all other trains also. The minister also announced another reform under which freight-related facilities will be developed on railway land. He said that to boost the freight activities of Railways, development of warehouse, grinding units and processing and consolidation units will be allowed on the available additional railway land. He said under-utilized warehouses would be developed as ‘Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals’ and luggage facilities.
