While on one hand there is a lot of talk about high-tech trains like Vande Bharat, Rajdhani and Tejas Express in the country, on the other hand there is a train of Indian Railways which is silently becoming the first choice of common passengers. This train is Amrit Bharat Express, which has been started especially for the people of low and middle income group. This train is becoming increasingly popular due to low fares, better facilities and comfortable long distance travel. According to Railway data, the average occupancy in its sleeper class has been recorded at more than 100 percent, which clearly shows that the demand for it among the passengers is continuously increasing.

Amrit Bharat Express is a completely non-AC train, but special care has been taken for the convenience of the passengers. This train has been started with the aim of making long distance travel cheap, safe and comfortable. The train consists of a total of 11 general coaches, 8 sleeper coaches, 1 pantry car and 2 luggage-cum-disabled coaches. This train has emerged as a big option for passengers traveling long distances at low fares.

Coach equipped with modern facilities

Although this train is non-AC, it has been provided with many modern facilities. The design of train seats and berths has been better than before, which provides more comfort to the passengers. LED lights, mobile charging points, CCTV cameras and semi-automatic couplers have been installed in the coaches, which makes the journey more safe and comfortable. Apart from this, better braking system, fire safety system and emergency talk-back system have also been installed in the train.

Emphasis on increasing the number of general coaches

Keeping in mind the needs of common passengers, Indian Railways has also decided to increase the number of general coaches. About 1250 general coaches were added to long distance trains in the financial year 2024-25. In the current financial year 2025-26, 860 general coaches have been increased till February. With this, passengers traveling without reservation will get more space.

17 thousand new coaches

Keeping in view the increasing demand of passengers in the coming time, Railways is also working on planning to make 17,000 new non-AC coaches. These coaches will have both general and sleeper facilities, which will provide more seats to common passengers and improve the travel experience.

Special attention to cleaning and maintenance

Railways has also given priority to the cleanliness and maintenance of trains. Bio-toilets have been installed in all the coaches, due to which the railway tracks and coaches remain clean. Apart from this, arrangements have also been made for mechanized cleaning, on-board housekeeping and regular inspection in trains.
