Negligence proved costly! Indian Railways retired 6 officers prematurely, created panic in the system

A big warning has come out for the officers and employees working in Indian Railways. With a strict message of no work, no job, the Railway Ministry has taken a big step and given compulsory retirement to 6 senior officers. That means these officers have been sent home even before the completion of their service period. This step of Railways has created a stir in the department. This action clearly indicates that there is no longer any room for laziness, inefficiency and irresponsible attitude in the Railways system.

Indian Railways has taken this strict action under Rule 1802 (A) of the Indian Railway Establishment Code (IREC). This rule gives the administration the special right that keeping in mind the public interest, it can prematurely retire any officer whose performance is not up to the standard. In simple words, if an officer is becoming an obstacle in the government work or his working capacity has been lost, then the government can retire him by giving him pension.

Which officers were blamed?

These 6 retired officers include officers posted on many senior posts. These include CME (Project) posted at Headquarters of Northern Railway, NF-HAG officers of South Western Railway, SAG officers of South East Central Railway, and IRSSE officers of Eastern Railway. Apart from this, Under Secretary/Deputy Director and PPS level officers of Railway Board Secretariat Service (RBSS) have also been shown the way out.

The main objective of this step of Railways is to fix accountability and increase operational efficiency. The Railway Ministry has made it clear that the tradition of carrying disabled people in this huge organization concerned with passenger safety and facilities is now coming to an end. This action is a strong lesson for all those who consider government job only as a safe haven and remain careless towards their duties. The railway administration has reiterated its zero tolerance policy, which means action can be taken at any time against those who do not meet service standards.
