
Maharashtra The Cabinet Infrastructure Committee on Tuesday approved a 35-km metro project connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai International Airport. Officials said that the cost of this project will be more than Rs 22,000 crore. There will be 20 stations in this corridor, which includes 6 underground and 14 elevated stations. According to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, the acquisition of 30.7 hectares of land is estimated to cost Rs 388 crore. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8 last year, from where the first commercial flight took off on December 25.

The Infrastructure Committee approved the 35 km long Metro Line-8 project, estimated to cost Rs 22,862 crore. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed that land acquisition and approvals for the metro project from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Navi Mumbai International Airport should be completed within 6 months and the construction work should be completed within 3 years of the approvals. It was told in the press release that out of the total 35 km long metro line, 9.25 km portion will be underground from Terminal-2 of Mumbai Airport to Ghatkopar East and 24.63 km portion will be elevated from Ghatkopar West to Terminal-2 of Navi Mumbai Airport.
Instructions also to accelerate the expansion of Samriddhi Expressway on Nagpur-Gondia and Bhandara-Gadchiroli routes.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also directed the concerned departments to expedite the expansion of Samruddhi Expressway on Nagpur-Gondia and Bhandara-Gadchiroli routes and not to delay the projects. The committee also approved the 66.15 km long Nashik City Ring Road project at a cost of Rs 3954 crore in view of the upcoming Kumbh Mela. The committee also approved conversion of 85.76 km long Navegaon More-Konsari-Mulchera-Hydri-Surajgarh highway in Gadchiroli district into a 4-lane concrete road to facilitate mineral transportation.
