The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday launched its first battery electric vehicle Maruti Suzuki e Vitara in the Indian market. Although the company is yet to announce variant-wise prices, the entry-level variant is made available under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for Rs 10.99 lakh (introductory price). With this, the cost of battery usage has been fixed at Rs 3.99 per kilometer. Customers can book this electric SUV through Nexa showroom or the company’s official website by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000.

Battery options and driving range

The e Vitara is available in two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. Both are based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The introductory BaaS price is for the base variant with a 49kWh battery, excluding road tax, insurance and other government charges.

How much range will you get?

49kWh battery: 105.8kW power, range up to 440km

61kWh battery: 128kW power, range up to 543km

Peak torque of 192.5Nm in both variants
A warranty of 8 years or 1.6 lakh km (whichever is earlier) is being given on the battery. At the same time, 8 years warranty (3 years standard + 5 years paid extension) is available on the entire vehicle.

Buyback Plan and Charging Benefits

The company has introduced two assured buyback plans for customers:

  • Up to 60% value in 3 years or 45,000 kms
  • Up to 50% value after 4 years or 60,000 kms

Apart from this, home charger and installation worth up to Rs 50,000 will be given free. Supplementary charging facility will also be available on the company’s exclusive charging network for one year. All these special benefits are valid for customers purchasing the vehicle till March 31, 2026.

5-star rating in safety

e Vitara has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP.

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 31.49 points out of 32
  • Child Occupant Protection: 43 points out of 49

Advanced safety features like 7 airbags (including driver side knee airbag), electronic stability control (ESC), all-disc brakes, electronic parking brake, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and level-2 ADAS are provided as standard across all variants.

Design and premium interior

The SUV has 3-point matrix LED DRL, LED projector headlamps and LED tail lamps. It is equipped with 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and low-rolling resistance tyres.

The interior comes with features like 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch multi-information display, ventilated front seats, 10-way power adjustable driver seat, 40:20:40 split rear seat, fixed glass sunroof and Infinity by Harman sound system. More than 60 connected car features are available through Suzuki Connect.

Who will compete with?

In the mid-size electric SUV segment, the e Vitara will compete with models like Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV and VinFast VF6.
