
Raxaul-Kathmandu Rail Project: The need to depend on road transport and airline companies to go from India to Nepal is going to end very soon. Yes, now Indian Railways will also take you from India to Nepal. Nepal’s capital Kathmandu will soon be connected with India’s capital Delhi by rail line. Actually, the work of the new rail line project between Raxaul and Kathmandu in Bihar is in the final stage, which will be completed by the end of this month. After completion of the survey work, DPR (Detailed Project Report) will also be prepared in January next year.
There will be 13 railway stations on the 136 km long Raxaul-Kathmandu route.
After the DPR of the project is ready, tenders will be issued for laying the line under the Raxaul-Kathmandu Rail Project and then the work of laying the line will start. About 136 km long railway line will be laid between Raxaul and Kathmandu and this entire project will cost about Rs 25,000 crore, which may also increase. Under this project, 13 railway stations will also be built on Route 136. After the completion of the rail project, Bihar will be directly connected with Nepal through the rail line and similarly the country’s capital Delhi will also be connected with Nepal through railways, because Bihar’s Raxaul is connected with the capital Delhi through a direct rail line.
The journey from Raxaul to Kathmandu will be completed in 2-3 hours.
Efforts to connect Delhi and Kathmandu by rail line were started in the year 2018 and its exercise was started in 2021. Let us tell you that survey has already been done for Raxaul-Kathmandu rail project. Earlier, survey work was started on two different routes, which were later cancelled. The current survey is completely different from the old survey. This is considered to be a very important rail project, after completion of which the journey from Raxaul to Kathmandu will be completed in just 2 to 3 hours. Let us tell you that currently only road transport and air transport are available to go from India to Nepal.
