
IndiGo Crisis: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) today gave a big relief to IndiGo’s Accountable Manager and CEO Peter Albers. DGCA has given an extension of 24 hours to respond to the show-cause notice issued on December 6, 2025 regarding large-scale operational crisis and non-compliance of rules. Both the officers, in their request dated Sunday, December 7, had sought 24 hours more time to respond to the show cause notice. After reviewing the request, DGCA has extended the deadline till 06.00 pm on December 8, 2025.
No further extension will be given
While giving 24 hours extension to IndiGo, DGCA has made it clear that they will not be given any further extension after this. Let us tell you that today is the sixth consecutive day of operational crisis of IndiGo. The country’s largest airline company Indigo canceled 650 flights today i.e. on Sunday also. However, the company is operating 1650 flights out of 2300 domestic and international flights scheduled for today. More than 800 Indigo flights were canceled on Saturday, while on Friday the company had canceled more than 1000 flights.
The situation is gradually becoming normal
Indigo said on Sunday that the operations of the company, which is facing a terrible crisis, is gradually returning to normal from today. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers said on Sunday that the airline was operating about 1650 flights on Sunday and gradually we are returning towards normalcy. He said that Indigo has made many more improvements in its system today. The CEO said, “We are now canceling flights in the first phase itself, so that passengers whose flights are being canceled do not reach the airport. Today’s OTP is estimated to be around 75%, which is much higher than yesterday’s 30%.”
₹610 crore refunded to passengers
On Sunday, the Civil Aviation Ministry said that a total of Rs 610 crore has been refunded to IndiGo passengers so far. Apart from this, IndiGo has also handed over more than 3000 bags to passengers across the country.
