CM Vijay strict on women’s safety, ‘Singapan Sirumbu’ force formed in Tamil Nadu after the order

After becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay had ordered the formation of ‘Singapan Sirumbu’ entry drug force for the safety of women. He said that this force will ensure prompt action on complaints related to women’s safety. After the order of CM, the state police department has formed it.

Fulfilling the promise of the Chief Minister’s election manifesto, many important responsibilities have been assigned to this force –

  1. To save women and youth from drug trap and take strict action against drug mafia.
  2. This force will work in an integrated manner at the statewide level to prevent sexual crimes against women.
  3. This special force mainly consists of women police personnel, who have been given special powers to take strict action against criminals.
  4. This force will not only catch the criminals, but will also spread awareness about women’s safety by visiting schools, colleges and among the general public.

Chief Minister Vijay has ordered that this force should be formed in every district of the state so that crimes against women can be rooted out. The Director General of Police (DGP) has started its formal process after getting approval from the government.

What is the meaning of ‘Singapan Sirumbu’?

In Tamil language, ‘Singapan’ means ‘lioness’ and ‘Sirumbu’ means ‘ant’. Its name gives the message that this force may be small in appearance, but its power and effects will be very big.
