There is good news for metro passengers in Delhi. Now the journey from metro station to home will become even easier and economical. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), under which passengers will get last mile connectivity facility through Bharat Taxi.
According to DMRC, this service has been started as a pilot project from Millennium City Center and Botanical Garden metro stations. In the initial phase, this facility will be extended to a total of 10 major metro stations. Services like bike taxi, auto rickshaw and cab will be available to the passengers at affordable rates. This will not only make it easier for passengers to reach home, but will also make the metro network in Delhi-NCR more effective and environment-friendly.
Goal: Better and Safer Transportation
DMRC spokesperson said that the objective of this initiative is to further improve the Delhi Metro network and promote environment-friendly transport. Along with the metro construction, this facility will help the passengers to reach home safely, conveniently and on time. STCL’s Bharat Taxi Service will provide this facility at low cost, which will benefit the daily commuters in a big way.
Survey of busy stations
Officials also said that after the survey, the 10 busiest metro stations of Delhi-NCR will be identified, so that more and more passengers can benefit from it. This will ensure that last mile connectivity works effectively on all major routes.
Bike taxi till 31st January
Under the pilot project, exclusively bike taxi facility has been started till January 31. After this, it will be gradually expanded across the entire network. DMRC says that this step is an important initiative towards making the daily journey of passengers easier and reducing traffic and pollution.

With this new service, the daily journey of Delhi Metro passengers will not only become easier but also economical and safe. Now passengers will be able to get the benefit of comfortable journey from major metro stations to their homes without any hassle.
