Howrah Non-veg food options will soon be included in the menu of the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train to be run between Andhra Pradesh and Kamakhya. An Eastern Railway official gave this information on Tuesday. Many passengers had raised objection to the fact that only veg food is being served in this train which runs 6 days a week. An Eastern Railway official said, “Within a week, non-veg food options are likely to be available in the menu of Vande Bharat Sleeper train.” Let us tell you that most of the passengers traveling in this train running between Howrah and Kamakhya are from West Bengal and Assam and non-veg food is very much liked in these two states.

PM Modi had shown the green flag on January 17

The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17, after which it started its regular commercial services from Kamakhya station in Guwahati on January 22 and from Howrah the next day. Railways also assured that the food served in Vande Bharat Sleeper train will be full of local flavor i.e. the train leaving from Kamakhya will have Assamese cuisine and the train leaving from Howrah will have local cuisine of West Bengal. Non-vegetarian dishes, including fish and meat, play a major role in the local cuisine of both the states of West Bengal and Assam. Other premium trains of the Railways like Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Vande Bharat train already have non-vegetarian food options available to passengers.

BJP leader had talked to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav

Union Minister of State for Education Sukant Majumdar has said that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has assured him that non-vegetarian food options will be provided in the Vande Bharat sleeper train also. Majumdar told on Monday that Vaishnav had told him that at present the menu of the train has been kept vegetarian, but non-veg will also be included soon. “People of West Bengal and Assam are mostly non-vegetarian, hence such dishes will be served in the Vande Bharat sleeper train,” he said.
