India The civil aviation ministry of the government took a major action against IndiGo on Tuesday. The Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered to reduce 10 percent of the total flights operated by IndiGo. After this order of the government, Indigo will no longer be able to operate all the already scheduled flights. The country’s largest airline company had canceled more than 2000 flights in the last 7-8 days due to poor planning of pilot and crew roster. This order of the Civil Aviation Ministry has come at a time when aviation regulator DGCA on Tuesday had asked the airline company to reduce its operations by 5%.
Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu gave information about the action
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu said on Tuesday, “The Ministry considers it necessary to reduce all the routes of IndiGo, which will help in stabilizing the operations of the airline and reduce cancellations. A reduction of 10% has been ordered. Pursuant to this, IndiGo will continue to cover all its destinations as before. IndiGo has been directed to follow all the instructions of the government, including the fare limit without any relaxation and “Passenger convenience measures are included.”
IndiGo claims stability in operations
DGCA had approved 15,014 IndiGo flights every week for the winter season. This is the time when travel demand increases in India. But, the airline company had canceled 951 flights out of 64,346 flights sanctioned for the entire month of November. IndiGo on Tuesday claimed that the airline is back on track and operations are stable, adding that it is meeting all the needs of customers. The company said that by Monday, the airline was operating flights again to all 138 destinations in its network and IndiGo’s on-time performance had also returned to normal.
