Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia and worldwide uncertainty regarding oil supply, the Indian government has given great relief to the common people. Government sources have made it clear that there will be no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country at present. It has also been said that India’s energy situation is continuously improving and the country has adequate oil and gas reserves.
According to government sources, the review meetings held in recent times have indicated that India’s energy supply has become stronger than before. Earlier there was some concern about LPG stock, but now the situation has become much better. With this, the government is confident that the impact of any possible global crisis will be limited on India.
Petrol and diesel prices will not increase
The government has clarified that there are no plans to increase the prices of petrol and diesel. Sources said the prices will be kept stable to provide relief to the general public. Recently it was alleged by the opposition that fuel prices may increase due to international conditions. On this, the government said that the allegations regarding increase in the prices of petrol and diesel are completely baseless. The government again assured that there will be no increase in the prices of these two fuels at present.
Also answered on LPG prices
Government sources also made it clear that the statement given regarding the prices of petrol and diesel is being linked to LPG, which is wrong. According to the government, the allegations being made regarding LPG prices are political and have no connection with the real situation.
Less dependence on the Strait of Hormuz
Due to tensions in West Asia, there is concern about the oil route passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In view of this, India has changed its strategy. According to sources, India has now increased the diversity in its sources of crude oil imports. Whereas earlier about 60 percent of crude oil used to come from sources other than the Strait of Hormuz, now this figure has increased to about 70 percent. This means that India is now dependent on this sensitive sea route to a lesser extent than before.
Adequate reserves of LNG and gas also
The government said that there is sufficient reserve of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in the country. Many countries have proposed to supply LNG to India, due to which there is no possibility of any major problem regarding the availability of gas in future. Qatar has also assured India that it will resume supplying gas to India as soon as the supply route becomes normal again.
