Amid the expansion of high-speed rail network in the country, the Railway Ministry has prepared a proposal to run the new Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Goa. Under this proposal, the train will complete the journey from Yesvantpur station in Bengaluru to Madgaon station in Goa in approximately 13 hours. This train will be operated through the Mangaluru Railway Division route, which will strengthen coastal connectivity. According to news18, the proposed schedule states that the train will depart from Yesvantpur at 6:05 am and reach Madgaon at 7:15 pm. In return, this train will depart from Madgaon at 5:30 am and reach Yesvantpur at 6:40 pm. With this timetable, passengers will get the option of comfortable and fast travel throughout the day.
There will be no stoppage at these stations
In order to reduce travel time, the train will not stop at Mangaluru Junction and Mangaluru Central stations. It will be run through Padil bypass route. According to South Western Railways, this decision has been taken to reduce the total duration of the train and make operations more efficient.
Preparation to increase speed
South Western Railways has also proposed to increase the maximum speed limit on some sections. The speed between Chikkabanavara to Hassan can be increased from 110 km/hr to 130 km/hr. There is a plan to increase the speed from 30 km/hr to 40 km/hr in Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road Ghat section. These changes are likely to further reduce travel time.
